Kaizen as applies to your personal life
While Kaizen is known as a management philosophy, it’s actually much more than that. First you have to see that it isn’t a vague notion about improving yourself, but rather a very sophisticated and nuanced way to look at life. For example, let’s look at time management. Managing your time in your personal life is just as important as managing your business life. We often think that if we had extra HOURS, we would get more accomplished. However, with kaizen, you learn to value and appreciate small blocks of time. For example, by getting up 15 minutes earlier, I can take a few minutes to meditate or to vigorously workout, perhaps I use that time to throw in that load of laundry that has been sitting at the end of the hall, or I set a timer and clean until the buzzer goes off. And, if I cut down on one mindless half-hour tv show in the evening, I gain 3.5 hours more in the week I can put to better use.
